Objectives :

To update family physicians with management of common geriatric problems

To provide a knowledge of comprehensive geriatric assessment (physical, mental, social, functional) in holistic care

To stress on preventive care in geriatrics including screening, disease prevention, accident avoidance, and optimal nutrition

To emphasize on rational drug prescribing in old age To familiarize family physicians with the full spectrum of geriatric are: acute care, rehabilitation, geriatric day hospital, out-patient clinic, community care, long term care

To emphasize the importance of continuous health care of both sick and normal old persons

     
Venue :

The clinical attachments and seminars will be held in Ruttonjee Hospital and its clinics and day hospital

Course Structure :

The attachment will consist of 13 two hourly sessions. One session per week from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
(16 hours will be clinical teaching and 10 hours will be seminars)
