Category I candidates who begin the written examination this year and are not eligible for the clinical segments must take the new format. Category I candidates sitting the examination for the first time and who are eligible for the clinical segments may take the old format. In such case, they must apply for all the segments at the first attempt and complete them by 2004. After satisfactory completion of four years of supervised training, Category I candidates may apply to sit the clinical segments, all of which must be taken at the first attempt. Unsuccessful segments only need to be re-attempted. All clinical segments begun in 2003 must be completed successfully by 2004. | (b) | CATEGORY II CANDIDATES who have been predominantly in general practice for not less than five years. Because of the change over in examination from old to new format, for this year ONLY, new Category II Candidates may sit the new written section 2003 and the new clinical examination in 2004. Successful results for the new written examination can be retained for three years. However if new category II candidates wish to take the whole examination in 2003, they can opt to take the old format. In such case, all segments must be attempted in 2003 and completed by 2004. This option will not be available any more from 2004 onwards after the complete new format examination has been introduced. Enquiries about eligibility to sit the examination should be directed to the Chairman of the Board of Examination & Assessment. |
