Objectives :
To update family physicians with management of common infectious disease problems
   
   
To provide a knowledge of comprehensive clinical and laboratory diagnosis of common infectious disease and related problems
   
   
To emphasize on rational drug prescribing
   
   
To stress on preventive care in particular to vaccination and travel medicine
   
   
To familiarize family physicians with the full spectrum of acute care, chronic care, rehabilitation, community care and holistic care

The clinical attachments and seminars will be held in Princess Margaret Hospital and its clinics and wards

Course Structure :
The attachment will consist of 12 two hourly sessions. One session per week from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Introduction to microbiology lab; Antimicrobial update; X-ray meeting; Infectious Disease emergencies; Travel Medicine; HIV disease; Fever in returned travellers and paediatric patients; Common paediatric infectious disease; Community acquired pneumonia and TB for general practice; Adult ID Case presentation; Immunization update for primary care provider; Overview of STD; Common skin infections; Infectious hepatitis

To emphasize the importance of continuous health care of both sick and normal old persons

The clinical attachments and seminars will be held in Ruttonjee Hospital and its clinics and day hospital
