It gives me great pleasure to inform you that our College will hold our Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) on 27-28 May 2006 at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Jockey Club Building, The theme of the meeting is 'Many Faces of a Family Doctor'.

The Health, Welfare and Food Bureau has recently released a discussion paper on the Future Service Delivery Model for our Health Care System emphasizing the importance of primary medical care. It also states that our future service delivery model should contain a primary health care system which can provide a robust family and community medicine service affordable by all. The paper mentions that a family doctor can be a general practitioner, a family medicine specialist or any other specialist. The implication is that general practitioners, specialists other than family physicians can play an important part in the future primary care system too.

We believe that members would benefit from understanding the roles of general practitioners, family medicine specialists and other specialists as well as the co-ordination and co-operation between different health care providers. We have invited Hong Kong College of Physicians, Hong Kong College of Paediatricians and Hong Kong Primary Care Foundation to co-organize our plenary sessions. With their inputs, we shall broaden our scope of vision in the future health care system.

To make the scientific meeting successful, your active participation would be indispensable. Members are welcome to submit your researches, presentations to our scientific sessions. The details of abstract submission will be available in separate circular and our website. Please also mark your diary; May 27-28, 2006 will be our coming ASM and fellowship conferment ceremony.

• Please use standard font in 12 point and submit with a printout of the 'Abstract Submission Form'.
• Handwritten abstracts are not accepted.
• The abstract must not exceed 250 words, and should be organized as follows: TITLE, AUTHOR(S), PURPOSE, METHOD, RESULTS, and CONCLUSIONS. Commentaries and discussion papers do not need to follow this exact format.
• Authors' full names and affiliations must be specified; surnames should be in bold.
• All abstracts must be submitted in English or Chinese; and all accepted abstracts must be presented in English.
• Follow the text formatting provided in the sample abstract.

1. Email - Submit abstract to hkcfp@hkcfp.org.hk as an attachment or included in the email message. Microsoft Word and Acrobat files are acceptable as attachments.
2. Disk - If email is not possible, mail floppy disk or CD to The Hong Kong College of Family Physicians, 7^th Floor, HKAM Jockey Club Building, 99 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Hong Kong.
3. IMPORTANT: Please include the information requested on the Abstract Submission Form with all electronic submissions

1. A maximum of TWO abstracts from a presenter will be considered in order to assure broad participation and exchange of views.
2. The Scientific Committee will make the decision on as to acceptability of each abstract.
3. Only ONE designated presenter can present an accepted abstract. Co-authors are welcome to attend the session, but are also required to register for the meeting.
